Consumer and Environmental Groups Call on General Mills to Stop Funding Anti-GMO Labeling Efforts and Support Consumers’ Right to Know
October 26th, 2015Consumer and environmental groups representing hundreds of thousands of consumers launched an advertising campaign directed at General Mills calling on the company to respond to consumer demands for the right to know what is in the food they buy and eat and to stop funding anti-food labeling efforts. September 5th, 2015Big biotech companies like Monsanto and big food companies like General Mills and Pepsi have spun the science to fight our right to know what’s in our food and how it’s grown. Nine out of 10 Americans — regardless of age, income or even party affiliation — simply want the right to know if GMOs are in their food, the same right held by consumers in 64 other nations. The Senate and the Obama administration should look at all of the science — including the clear and convincing evidence that GMO crops have fueled an explosion in weed killers linked to cancer — not just Monsanto’s “science" and reject legislation passed by the House to block state and federal GMO labeling.

The letter also asks the President to oppose H.R. 1599, referred to as the “Denying Americans the Right to Know” or “DARK” Act, legislation that seeks to prevent consumers from knowing whether or not their food contains GMOs.
June 22nd, 2015Yesterday’s action by the International Agency for Research on Cancer to label the chemical 2,4-D a possible human carcinogen means that both active ingredients in Dow AgroSciences’ Enlist Duo herbicide for GMO crops are human cancer risks.
June 18th, 2015Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) has found new ways to keep Americans in the dark about whether their food contains genetically modified ingredients, or GMOs.
May 20th, 2015Armed with new national survey results showing overwhelming support for mandatory labeling of genetically modified foods (GMOs), top executives from Ben & Jerry’s, Chipotle, Stonyfield Farm, Patagonia and other companies today urged lawmakers to oppose legislation designed to block labeling of GMO foods and called instead for mandatory national GMO labeling.
May 14th, 2015The following is a statement from Gary Hirshberg, chairman of the Just Label It campaign and chairman and co-founder of Stonyfield Farm, reacting to news that USDA will create a voluntary certification for products that do not contain GMOs.
